SIX MAIN RESULTS OF THE MEETING OF PRESIDENTS MAIA SANDU AND VOLODYMYR ZELENSKY

The Presidents of Ukraine and Moldova Volodymyr Zelensky and Maia Sandu have discussed six main topics in Kiev on January 12. According to Infotag, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva wrote about this on his Facebook page, calling the visit of the head of the Moldovan state “symbolic and important in terms of results.”

He listed six of its results.

1. We restored a full-fledged dialogue at the presidential level - which was not the case during the time of the predecessors. According to the signed Joint Declaration, the Presidential Council is being formed - a coordinating body at the level of heads of state.

2. We discussed and reached an understanding on the issues of mutual support in matters of regional security. Both presidents support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states within internationally recognized borders. And Crimea for Maia Sandu is forever and definitely the Ukrainian.

3. There will be a new full-fledged highway between the two capitals, including a new bridge across the Dniester. This will reduce the travel time between Kiev and Chisinau to just over five hours. The project is quite possible to be implemented this year.

4. Ukraine is ready to restore the export of electricity to Moldova, and our neighbors are ready to accept it.

5. Details of the Dniester hydroelectric complex and a whole range of related aspects, including environmental and property issues and the demarcation of border sections. There is a political will to ensure that this issue disappears as problematic, then it is up to the governments.

6. Questions of language and other rights of national minorities in both states will be resolved on a parity basis.
