MARK TKACHUK NAMES LANGUAGES LAW AUTHORS AND DESTROYERS “NARROW-MINDED PROVOKERS”

25 january, 2021

Mark Tkachuk, a member of the Executive Committee of the Collective Action Party “Civilian Congress”, has named as “narrow-minded provokers” all those having a relation to drafting the Law on the functioning of languages in Moldova and to its cancellation by Constitutional Court’s decision.

In his interview with the enews.md publication, Mark Tkachuk offered an opinion that the Law, initiated by the Socialists, would only lead to deterioration of the situation of the Russian language in Moldova.

“In a situation, when Russian was and is remaining a language of inter-ethnic communication according to a whole range of regulatory legal acts, when the entire task was merely in fulfilling the Law on national minorities and their organizations and the Concept of National Policy, the Socialists – bang! – put forward a silliest bill on the Russian language, which greatly narrows Russian’s functions in Moldova compared with those legal norms that were fully functional yet. Well, and they receive an asymmetrical reply from same-type narrow-minded provokers – parliamentarians from Right parties and from the personalities regarding themselves to be Constitutional Court Judges”, said historian and anthropologist Mark Tkachuk, a former Adviser to ex-president Vladimir Voronin and ex-Member of the Parliament.

In his opinion, incumbent Moldovan parliamentary parties are mutually complementary in their propaganda of hatred.

“Their ideological and intellectual poverty, their incapability to offer the society a clear program of joint survival are pushing the politicians from ruling parties to political provocations. They throw the heaviest-possible political drugs into the society and sow discord among the grassroots. Thank you very much for this, Ms. Sandu and Mr. Dodon. You do it well. Peace in Moldova is getting increasingly fragile and unreliable each coming day”, said Mark Tkachuk.
