26 january, 2021

On Monday, Moldovan President Maia Sandu held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Moldova, Pascal Le Deunff. They discussed the internal political situation in Moldova and the question of holding an early parliamentary election.

Maia Sandu wrote in social networks afterwards: “I continue to stand up for holding a snap election for re-configuration of power and for ensuring its functionality”.

The President also mentioned among her priorities the overcoming of the epidemiological and economic crises and provision of access to an anti-coronavirus vaccine.

“An important aspect of the meeting was our discussion of Moldova-France relations. I assured that the Republic of Moldova is remaining France’s close friend interested in the development of economic relations and in building up French investments in Moldova. I also pointed out the need for broadening cultural and academic ties within the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), which Moldova is a member of, as well as a country having a considerable diaspora in France”, wrote Maia Sandu.
