SURVEY: FOUR PARTIES HAVE A CHANCE TO PASS TO THE NEXT PARLIAMENT

26 january, 2021

In the event of early elections to the new parliament, four parties have a chance to pass – Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), Party of Socialists (PSRM), Shor Party and Our Party. This is evidenced by data from the Vox Populi survey for January 2021, conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers.

According to a study presented on Tuesday in the Infotag news agency, if early parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 24.4% of voters are ready to vote for the PAS party, 23.9% for PSRM, 9.3% for Shor Party. Our Party would have 5.4%. The rest of the formations do not overcome the minimum threshold of 5% of votes to enter parliament. At the same time, 19.8% of the respondents were undecided about the answer, and 8.2% said they would not take part in the elections.

If we take into account only the opinion of the determined voters, then PAS Party can get 33.9% of the vote, PSRM - 33.2%, Shor Party - 12.9% and Our Party - 7.5%.

The poll shows that there can be a high turnout in early elections: 59.7% of respondents are sure that they will vote, 22.5% are likely to go to the polls, and only 15.1% are likely not to take part in the elections.

According to the survey, during 2020 the attitude of citizens towards the organization of early parliamentary elections has changed significantly. If in January, only 17.3% of respondents had a positive attitude to this idea, then in July, the figure increased by 51.1%. In January 2021, 69.7% of survey participants were in favor of organizing early elections.

The poll was conducted from 8 to 23 January among 1,153 people from 87 settlements of the republic, with the exception of the Transnistrian region. The margin of error is 3%.
