CONSTITUTIONAL COURT CHAIR DISPELS RUMORS ABOUT PARLIAMENT DISSOLUTION DECISION

08 april, 2021

Moldovan Constitutional Court Chairperson Domnica Manole has refuted media rumors that the CC decision concerning dissolution of the Parliament has allegedly been taken already. Her statement followed today in response to the information disseminated by some mass media that the Constitutional Court had already decided in favor of the dissolution "as a result of the serious pressure put on the Court Chairperson by the Moldovan President and the U.S. Ambassador".

"I categorically refute the libelous information published under the headline of "The Constitutional Court's decision on establishing the grounds for dissolution of the Parliament has already been taken". Nobody pressed on us at our taking the conclusion, which the Court must present in the nearest future. I am an independent judge and I shall be voting on the basis of an in-depth analysis of constitutional texts and of corresponding judiciary practices", assured Domnica Manole.

She voiced disapproval of "the incorrect and manipulative" methods used by certain Internet outlets.

On April 15, the Constitutional Court will examine President Maia Sandu's inquiry concerning the availability of legal grounds for dissolving the Parliament.
