MOLDOVA HANDED OVER TO EUROPEAN UNION COMPLETED QUESTIONNAIRE FOR REPUBLIC'S ACCESSION TO THE EU

22 april, 2022

Moldova has handed over to the European Union (EU) the completed questionnaire for accession to the European Union. During a ceremony at the presidential administration, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita handed over a bulk volume of answers to European Union Ambassador to Chisinau Janis Mazeiks on Friday.

Gavrilita said that the first part of the answers deals with Moldovan legislation, the work of state institutions, the economic situation, progress in harmonization with European standards, and the situation in the field of human rights observance. She assured that the work in the enhanced regime will continue, so that the second volume of answers is handed to Brussels by mid-May.

From her part, President Maia Sandu thanked all those who took part in filling in the answers during 11 days (the questionnaire was received on April 11).

"We do not stop here, because the second questionnaire, more voluminous, has arrived. And I call on the state institutions, officials to work more, to work better than before. Moldova's integration with the European Union is our country project, it's a project for this generation, it's the light at the end of the tunnel that we all need so much. And for this we have to work, we have to make efforts by the whole society. We hope that everyone will do their part," Sandu stressed.

The answers provided by Moldova will help the European Commission determine whether the republic meets the Copenhagen criteria, its readiness to receive the status of EU candidate country.
