MOLDOVAN CEC EXPECTS COMPATRIOTS ABROAD TO BE ACTIVE AT ELECTIONS

22 may, 2014

Moldovan citizens abroad may register for participation at elections. This is provided by a regulation, developed by the Central Election Commission (CEC), where procedure and registration conditions were set.

According to the CEC, on the basis of data about compatriots, the necessary number and location of polling stations will be identified, which should be opened abroad.

The Republic of Moldova citizens may register online on the website www.alegator.md starting from May 28 that is six months before the Parliament mandate expiration and not later than 40 days before the date of elections, which is not set yet.

Infotag’s dossier: The Republic of Moldova authorities do not have precise data on number of compatriots abroad. Figures vary from 0.5 million to 1 million people. During elections, polling stations usually open only at the Moldovan diplomatic missions.
