COMMUNISTS COMPLAIN TO CEC AGAINST DEMOCRATS

12 september, 2014

The Moldovan Communist Party (MCP) has sent an inquiry to the Central Election Commission claiming that the Democratic Party violates the Moldovan legislation.

The MCP all-republican electoral headquarters drew the CEC’s attention to the fact that yet on September 3, Democratic Party leader MP Marian Lupu announced that his party was launching a campaign to draw up the list of DP candidates to parliament.

Simultaneously, DP leaders went for a ‘grand tour’ around the country on cars and buses decorated brightly with party emblems and slogans. DP leader Marian Lupu mobilized for that purely electoral action many ministers and other high-ranked civil servants, who are thus doing their party activities during work days, the MCP inquiry said.

Simultaneously, many television channels started advertising these DP actions and calling on citizens to vote for DP candidates.

The MCP wrote in the inquiry that these actions by the Democratic Party go contrary to a whole number of provisions in the Election Code, in particular concerning the beginning of election campaigns and concerning the using of the administrative resource.

The parliamentary campaign will begin officially on September 30 – two months before the election day.
