DURLESTI MANIAC ARRESTED - CHISINAU PROSECUTOR

17 octomber, 2014

The man, who committed a double suicide in Durlesti suburb of Chisinau, has been arrested, said Chisinau City Prosecutor Ion Diakov in the Internet program “Without Myths” run by the Panorama Russian-language newspaper of Chisinau.

The Prosecutor said that “the person, who committed the crime, is now in prison and investigators still have to work with him, though he was sentenced to 23 years for another crime”.

Diacov considers that in order to completely solve the murder, it is necessary that this case to be fully concentrated in the Chisinau prosecutors’ office.

“Everyone, who worked with this case, starting from the district policeman to prosecutors, should be discharged from the investigation”, added he.

The capital city Prosecutor regrets that during the investigation many people suffered from suspicions and illegal arrests.

According to Diacov, he talked to parents of the killer’s victims, but they said that “they already do not need anything”.

“This is due to the fact that already several times the law enforcement announced that they found the suspect. Imagine the state of the victims’ families after each such announcement. They understood that the law enforcement bodies are impotents. And it is dishonestly and irresponsibly to use this case for political purposes as Gurin (Prosecutor General) and others are doing”, said he.

Prosecutor General’s Office investigator Corneliu Bratunov, who conducts the case on “Durlesti maniac”, said that the man, whom Diacov is referring to, has been arrested and later sentenced to 23 years for killing his wife in August 2011.

“He underwent lie-detector test, provided fingerprints and DNA material, which was studied in laboratory conditions. The received results did not prove his involvement in the double murder in Durlesti”, said Bratunov.

Infotag’s dossier: On September 10, 2010, bodies of a man, 31, and a woman, 18, were found near a Daewoo car on the Chisinau-Ialoveni highway. Both of them were shot with a hunting rifle. On the night of April 1, 2011, in Durlesti, the police found bodies of two young people in a BMW car. 15-year old girl was killed by a shot in the nape, while her 18-year-old companion – by shots in head and chest. On May 19, the same year, an attempt to murder a young couple in a car, was made also near Ialoveni. An unknown opened fire, but the young man, wounded in leg, who proved to be a police officer, started shooting back and the attacker ran away.
