GOVERNMENT 2.5 MILLION LEI FOR REHABILITATING APARTMENT BUILDING IN ORHEI

21 octomber, 2014

The Cabinet of Ministers allocated 2.5 million lei for rehabilitating the residential building in Orhei, affected by the explosion, which occurred this past Saturday.

Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction Anatolie Zolotcov said that eight apartments have been completely destroyed and should be rebuilt.

“Experts say that the building frame has not been damaged and the building may be restored”, said he.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca mentioned that now it is necessary to help the affected people.

“Also, we should exactly identify the cause of explosion. If it was a technical mistake, we can demand that Moldovagaz to finance the repair works”, said the Premier.

He mentioned that after elections, it will be necessary to discuss the topic of compulsory property insurance.

“The EU experience shows that in many countries the housing insurance is compulsory. We should also identify a mechanism of compensations in case of loss or damage of property as a result of natural disasters or tragedies. Annual payments for insurance are not so high, but in case of tragedy, people can get compensations. The state can not bear these costs infinitely”, said the Premier.

Also, on Monday, the Government decided to allocate 1.28 million lei from the reserve fund for repairing roof of a gymnasium in the Albota de Jos village (Taraclia raion) and 2 million lei for repairing roof of lyceum in Radoaia village (Singerei raion).

Other 200 thousand lei have been allocated for providing money compensations to people, whose houses were affected by landslides in Gagauzia last autumn. Money will be given to two families in Comrat.
