23 february, 2015

Within maximum 10 days, a new framework agreement should be compiled with suppliers of medicines for health institutions, stated the newly elected Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici after Saturday’s extraordinary meeting in Government with heads of state institutions, engaged in management and control of providing hospitals with medicines.

According to the Government press service, the meeting took the decision to toughen the contractual obligations and apply more tough measures to dishonest suppliers.

According to the Premier, the action plan also includes conducting the assessment and establishing of precise bonuses to the pharmaceutical products’ cost.

During the meeting factors that caused reduction of stocks of medicines in hospitals were also analyzed. Gaburici called unacceptable the current situation.

“Economic agents, which assumed the responsibility to provide medications to hospitals, must fulfill their promises. We can not expose people’s health to danger just because someone does not get the desired profit. If an economic agent created a crisis situation on medications, it should be fined or excluded from the list of companies, which have the right to participate in tenders. Currently, fines they risk are insignificant. After raising the amount of fines, such situations will be excluded”, assured the Premier.

On Saturday morning, the Prime Minister visited two largest hospitals of Moldova – Cancer Institute and Chisinau Emergency Hospital.

He promised to investigate the situation with prices and extra charges on medicines, calling the Agency on medicines and the Customs Service to cooperation.

As Infotag has already reported, Moldovan hospitals remained without medications at the beginning of the year, when a number of suppliers refused to sign agreements with health institution, citing the decline of the national leu currency.
