​STANDING COMMITTEE PROPOSES AMENDMENTS TO LABOR CODE

The parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Protection, Healthcare and Family proposed amendments to the Labor code, which provide establishment of social rights for families with children.

The document targets creation at the level of policies of conditions, which would stimulate the birth of the second or more children and extends privileges for these families.

It is proposed amending of articles that provide that family with one child aged up to 16 to be given right to choose the period of summer vacation, as well as the right of each of parents to an additional unpaid 14-day vacation. Also, it is proposed to provide to one-child families the right to additional 2 days of the paid vacation, while to families with two or more children – 4 days. According to legislators, these changes will allow parents to devote more time to their children, at the same time preserving the job.

The MPs initiative is based on the data about birth rate and demographical statistics which say that 25% of Moldovan families have only one child.
