BAILIFF AND POLICE REMOVED TENTS ON BULGARA STREET

03 august, 2015

Bailiff and policemen fulfilled the judgment of the Chisinau Appeals Court and demolished the tent village on Bulgara Street in Chisinau, which was installed by the demonstrators against tariff raising.

As already reported by Infotag, dozens of police officers cordoned off the area, where the tents were installed, thereby limiting the protest participants’ access and did not allow them to interfere with the demolition.

According to the “Our Home is Moldova” (OHM) Party Leader Grigore Petrenco, “the demolition of tents is illegal, as the protest action is carried out by Moldova citizens and not by the party itself, and there are three days to appeal the decision of Chisinau Appeals Court in the Supreme Court of Justice”.

He noted that “the decision will be challenged and the party will appeal to all the diplomatic missions, accredited in Moldova, with the requirement to respond to the existing iniquity”.

Clashes occurred between protesters and employees of private security as a result of the demolition. One of the protesters was arrested for resisting the law enforcement bodies.

The protesters said they do not know where the tents they have bought specially for the protest are.

Earlier, the decision on removing the tent village and the prohibition to conduct protest actions in 41 Bulgara Street was issued by Sectorul Buiucani court of Chisinau, after which chairman of the OHM challenged it in Chisinau Appeals Court, which upheld the first instance decision.

Infotag’s dossier: “Our Home is Moldova” Party installed 10 tents in 41 Bulgara St. on July 24, as a protest against electricity and natural gas tariff raising. According to the protesters the oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who controls the National Energy Regulatory Agency and who is involved in raising tariffs, lives at this address.
