​CASE OF ANTHRAX INFECTION REGISTERED IN MOLDOVA

A case of anthrax infection has been registered in Moldova. A resident of Telenesti raion came to hospital with the symptoms of this disease.

The 40-year-old shepherd from the Zgardesti village turned in to local hospital with fever, inflammation and ulcers on the hand. After laboratory tests doctors diagnosed anthrax and the patient was urgently transferred to Chisinau infectious diseases hospital Toma Ciorba. His house and yard was disinfected.

According to preliminary data, the shepherd became infected after consuming meat of a goat, which he ate with his wife and two neighbors. The symptoms of the disease appeared after a week, a few days later he went to the hospital. His wife and neighbors do not have signs of disease yet, but they remain under medical supervision.

An epidemiological study of possible anthrax outbreak was conducted in the district.
