FOREIGN DIPLOMATS VISIT MILITARY DRILL AT BULBOACA

23 september, 2016

A group of foreign diplomats accredited in Chisinau visited on Thursday the Fire Shield 2016 military exercises being hold at the Bulboaca military training center near Chisinau.

The diplomats were briefed on the drill program and progress and watched the actions by the event participants – about 3 hundred servicemen from Moldova, the United States and Romania. In particular, the guests watched howitzer and anti-tank gun firing practices.

Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru stated proudly at the end of the event that the Moldovan armed forces have achieved “the level of preparedness of the military from other countries, though we have neither up-to-date weapons nor military equipment”.

In this connection, “It is very important for us to develop cooperation with the American troops deployed in Romania. Today, we all saw a well-coordinated interaction between the Moldovan army and NATO servicemen”, stressed the defense minister.

The Fire Shield exercises began on September 11 and will be completed on Saturday. Their objective is to improve the level of compatibility of the three armies at carrying out joint operations, reported the Ministry of Defense.
