​SWEDEN TO HELP MOLDOVA MODERNIZE ANSA WORK

The Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (SIDA) will help Moldova modernize and improve the activities of the National Food Safety Agency within the project “Raising Capacity in Food Safety”.

ANSA Director Gheorghe Gaberi said at the Monday’s project launching ceremony that for this the Swedish Government will provide 2 million euros. The project is designed for three years, starting from January.

“Over this time, specialists from Sweden will conduct at least 60 seminars, training courses, lectures for ANSA employees’ professional development, which will allow using modern technologies for quality control raising”, he explained.

According to Gaberi, during two years Moldova has to adapt more than 200 EU directives, after which the Moldovan legislation will approach the European one, which will raise European consumers’ trust and will contribute to raising of exports in EU countries.

Gaberi said that soon the Government will approve a new strategy for food safety, elaborated with development partner’s assistance.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Moldova Signe Burgstaller expressed hope that the project implementation will serve as an impetus for Moldova and will help it on its way towards European integration.

The Project implies modernization of ANSA work on the main directions – veterinary control, food safety and information technology implementation. The project was approved in November 2016 after several meetings of specialists from Moldova and Sweden.
