PARENTS DEMAND EDUCATION MINISTRY TO RENOUNCE TO VACATION IN KINDERGARTENS

A group of parents (10 mothers with their children) from the Association “Solidary Parents” gathered before the Ministry on Thursday, demanding the Education Ministry not to introduce 42-day summer vacation in Moldovan kindergartens.

Association Chairwoman Alla Revenco said after the rally that parents were forced to come to protest for protecting their and their children’s rights.

According to her, mothers have never thought that the authorities can do this to them and their children. For already a year, it is said that a document will be published, which implies that vacation in kindergartens will last for 42 days.

“We transmitted to the Ministry our demands and we want to know why kindergartens will go on summer vacation for such a long period. But we were given an informal response that vacation will take place and the entire responsibility for children will lie on parents’ shoulders. We were not given any alternative”, Revenco said.

According to her, mothers are waiting an explanation from Minister of Education Corina Fusu why such a decision was taken, how big are losses the budget will suffer if mothers will be staying with children at home for more than a month, how employers will react on women’s stay at home.

Parents proposed that kindergartens to go on vacation for maximum one-two weeks for repairs and for this time children to be united in bigger groups, without interrupting kindergartens’ activity.
