​MOLDOVAN TEACHERS TO HOLD MASSIVE PROTEST ON APRIL 5

The Trade Union Federation of Education and Science (FSES) decided on Wednesday to bring teachers to a massive protest action in Chisinau downtown on April 5.

Trade unions expect that the rally will gather up to 10 thousand teachers from the entire republic. They will march on Chisinau main street from the Moldovan Academy of Sciences (MAS) to the Government building. The road traffic will be suspended for this period of time.

Teachers’ demands are the same: raising of salaries by 50% starting from January 1, 2017. FSES head Dumitru Ivanov said that a meeting with authorities is planned for April 3, but this does not mean teachers renounce to protests.

“Teachers are deciding by themselves if they want to participate in the protest. The suspension of the educational process is an extreme measure the Government forces us to resort to”, Ivanov said.
