MOLDOVAN AMBASSADOR TO GENEVE APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF UNCTAD TRADE BOARD

Permanent Representative of Moldova to the UN Office in Geneva Tudor Ulianovschi was unanimously voted as Chairman of the Trade and Development Board, which is the superior directive body of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) within conferences of ministers, conducted once in four years.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Ulianovschi stated when assuming the office that in the quality of Board Chairman he will take efforts for lifting barriers in international trade.

During the session of the UNCTAD high-level segment, which will last till September 22, processes of integration and disintegration of world economy, interdependency and overall economic growth, investments for developing digital economy, technical assistance, provided by the UNCTAD to developing countries, strategic plan and budget of the organization, including the monitoring of implementing the adopted UN decisions, conferences and summits in economic and social spheres.

In general, the topic of the session is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the European Union and the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Infotag’s dossier: Tudor Ulianovschi is a career diplomat. He worked in Moldovan Embassy to Qatar, in 2014 he became Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Later, he was appointed as Moldovan Ambassador to Switzerland, simultaneously working in UN agencies in Geneva.

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, headquartered in Geneve, was founded in 1964 for contributing to development of international trade and equitable, mutually profitable cooperation between the states.
