FREEDOM MOLDOVA FUND TO CHECK DETENTION CONDITIONS IN PRISON #13

The Freedom Moldova Human Right Foundation addressed to the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, in particular to the administration of the Chisinau prison #13, with a request to visit this institution.

Experts of the fund want to familiarize with the prisoner detention conditions and to raise the issue on cooperation between the prison #13 with a monitoring commission made of civil society representatives, which is aimed at conducting civil control of the penitentiary in accordance with the legislation.

The Foundation’s choice is conditioned that many human right institutions spoke critically about the conditions of detention in this prison.

Besides, it periodically gets in the center of events, which demand the intervention of lawyers (including the recent death of the arrested Andrei Braguta, beating of minors, multiple scandals and violations, connected with the detention of Veaceslav Platon).
