REFERENDUM WEBSITE LAUNCHED IN CHISINAU

The website called www.demisia.md [which means "resignation" in Moldovan] was officially launched in the Moldovan capital city today in the run-up to the November 19 referendum on a vote of (no) confidence in Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, who has been suspended from office and placed under house arrest since last May on suspicion of corruption and abuse of position.

The website contains a number of columns such as "About the Referendum", "City Problems", "Corruption in the Chisinau Primaria [city government]", "Illicit Construction", "Ecology".

The materials written for the website or the ones from other sources re-published on it focus on topics like "The Organic Bomb in Chisinau", "Dishonest Tenders", "Municipal Enterprise 'Exdrupo'" and other.

A separate section is dedicated to the referendum proper: how it is being organized, by whom and why, legal procedures, participation rules etc.
