CMC COUNCILOR CALLED LIBERALS' INTENTION TO ADDRESS TO CONSTITUTIONAL COURT "A PRE-ELECTION PR"

Alexander Odintov, councilor from the the Party of Socialists (PSRM) in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) called the Liberals' intention to address to the Constitutional Court (CC) on the need to cancel Russian as the language of inter-ethnic communication as "nothing but a pre-election PR".

He wrote on his Facebook page, that the Russian language is "cement" that holds together all the national minorities of the republic as a unified people of Moldova.

According to him, it is the Russian language that is the guarantor of the territorial integrity of the country.

"People in Gagauzia and in some other raions in the south and north of the republic are sensitive to the language problem! The desire to save on translation into Russian will lead to translations into Gagauzian and Bulgarian languages. And where is the economy here?" perplexed the councilor.

He also recalled that Transnistrian people also speak Russian, which gives the chance to reunite.

"The Liberals' behavior before the elections once again shows that they do not attain the European values, in the proper sense of the term. Respect for national minorities and their languages, respect for law and intolerance to corruption has nothing to do with the Liberals of Moldova", maintained the Socialist.

He does not doubt that it is destructive to ban the Russian language.

"This may cause aggravation of the situation in the country and complete loss of the agreement prospects with Transnistria. And this is a violation of the Constitution and deprivation of territorial integrity. Liberals have declared themselves outside the law, and outside the Constitution", stressed Alexander Odintov.
