PREMIER FILIP BELIEVES CITIZENS WILL FEEL GOVERNMENT’S WORK RESULTS ALREADY THIS YEAR

25 january, 2018

Already in 2018 Moldova citizens must really feel the results of the Government’s 2-year work, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated at the news conference on Thursday.

Two years ago, he said, some people used to criticize the authorities and would not wish to give a chance to the new Government to de-frost European funding, sign a cooperation agreement with the IMF and to stabilize the national economy.

“They were accusing us for our being a government appointed secretly at midnight. They were trying to prevent the consolidation of the new government and were spreading chaos. But they failed to! Today the situation looks differently. Those crisis-provokers are remaining in the opposition, while our present-day results are an answer to their accusations”, said Pavel Filip.

He stressed that both in 2016 and in 2017 the Moldovan economy was growing by 4% p.a. In the first 10 months of 2017, the State Budget revenues were 18% higher against the equivalent period in the previous year. And the National Tax Inspectorate has reported a growth of revenues – from 1 billion lei up to 2.3 billion lei in the periods concerned.

“These results did not fall upon us from the sky. They are a convincing result of our efficient hard work on economy stimulation in Moldova. We worked the two years to ensure comfortable work conditions to the people of business. That has led to their strengthening and, on the whole, to economy development”, said the Prime Minister.

Among the main achievements of his team Pavel Filip mentioned the indexation and raising of old-age pensions and disability pensions; creation of legal frames for founding IT parks which, by availing themselves of taxation privileges (a uniform 7% income tax) should attract more foreign investments into the republic; growth of the minimal and the average pay size in the economy; the launching of the First Home program; the raising of the settlement allowance for young medical workers going for work in rural localities; creation of conditions for attracting financing for farmers; resumption of the 5+2 format negotiations on Transnistrian conflict settlement and the reaching of several important agreements; the reduction by more than 60% of the number of permissive documents necessary for business opening, which improvement has diminished the red tape in the country.
