BAD ROADS AND WASTE ARE BIGGEST PROBLEMS IN BALTI - OPINION POLL

Balti citizens regard bad roads, untimely waste removal and lack of normally-paid jobs as the most urgent city problems. Such a conclusion was made by authors of an opinion poll, conducted on January 22 through February 16 on the Balti Primaria website.

The electronic voting was conducted at the initiative of the club "Primarias for Economic Development", which is a part of an EU project. The Balti administration is member of the club since 2017. The number of respondents is not mentioned. The plebiscite "Balti Municipality Through the Eyes of Citizens" was held on 15 topics.

For example, 42% respondents are content with the city infrastructure, while each fifth citizen is discontented. Over one-third of people are dissatisfied with the waste removal, 25% are very discontented in this sector of city services. With all this, 20.2% of citizens maintain that in this sphere everything is well.

47% citizens said they are content with the street lighting, while 13% - that they are not. Assessing the condition of the housing stock and buildings' appearance, each fifth respondent expressed extreme dissatisfaction about this, while 34% said they just do not like it.

39.6% citizens are content with the condition of parks and green zones, while 47.5% are discontented with the leisure conditions in the municipality.

Citizens said that the main problems, which hinder the development of businesses are corruption (27.7%) and lack of access to financing (21.3%).

Asked what should be developed in Balti in order that the city to reborn, 28.9% respondents answered that it is industry, while 19.7% - informational technologies.
