ANSA CONFIRMS NEW CASE OF AFRICAN HOG CHOLERA IN MOLDOVA

The National Food Safety Agency announced that the new outbreak of African hog cholera in the Stefan Voda raion, in one of Palanca village households, was confirmed by results of laboratory analysis in the Republic Center for Veterinary Diagnostics.

According to ANSA, a special commission, headed by raion Chairman already developed an Action Plan on combating the disease. ANSA informed national and European structures, the World Organization for Animal Health and other external partners about the cholera outbreak in the republic territory.

Employees of the ANSA territorial office, jointly with other representatives of state bodies are holding epidemiological inspection of the raion and are taking measures on preventing the disease spreading.

The agency is asking owners of pigs to inform competent authorities about the identification of sick animals, as well as to abide by minimal requirements of bio-safety.

Infotag’s dossier: This is already the second case of African hog cholera in Palanca. The first was registered in October 2017. Back then the reason of disease appearance was the importing of infected meat from Ukraine by a Moldovan citizen. In total, since September 2016, seven ourbreaks of the disease were registered in Moldova – in Donduseni raion, in Soroca raion, Edinet raion, Stefan-Voda raion and Causeni raion.
