BROCK BIERMAN CALLS CHISINAU TO DEVELOP CIVIL SOCIETY AND ENSURE MEDIA OBJECTIVITY

Moldova should continue its efforts to develop the civil society and ensure the objectivity of the mass media, Brock Bierman, the Assistant Administrator for the USAID’s Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, stated during his meeting in Chisinau with Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

The American official also highlighted the importance to proceed with reforms to improve the business environment and struggle against corruption.

Premier Filip expressed gratitude for the considerable financial assistance the United States provides to Moldova for the realization of various projects and for the technical assistance by means of the USAID to consolidate Moldova’s institutional potential and ensure an economic growth.

The Premier assured his Government is aware of the problems Moldova citizens face and is determined to continue its struggle against corruption and for ensuring the supremacy of law.

“To ensure development, we must conduct reforms in parallel in all the fields that lay the foundation for the country’s further development. We are counting on the United States’ further assistance to achieving these goals”, said the Moldovan Prime Minister.

Infotag's dossier: Since 1992, the United States has furnished an aggregate financial assistance to an amount of some US$1.4 billion. In 2017, the assistance provided by the United States Agency for International Development marked nearly US$24 million.
