THOUSANDS OF PROTESTERS DEMAND VALIDATION OF CHISINAU MAYORAL ELECTION RESULTS

A massive protest action of the right-wing opposition was held in Chisinau on Sunday under the slogan "We protest! We will not give up! We will stop the dictatorship!". Thousands of people demanded the validation of Chisinau mayoral election results.

The protesters gathered before the Chisinau City Hall after which they went to the city central square. They were holding flags of Moldova and the European Union, as well as banners with demands to validate city election results, with slogans again the corrupt judiciary, which declared the election as invalid.

The protesters were chanting: "We will not give up!", "Nastase is our mayor!", "Plahotniuc, prison is your home!", "Down with dictatorship!" and others.

"We are many! We came here because we want to defend our freedom, our rights. We are responsible citizens, who want to withstand the dictatorship. The authorities took off their masks, they demonstrated their real face. Selfish ends of oligarch Plahotniuc are hiding behind beautiful words about European integration. He decided that the country belongs to him and he can do all he wants. We have to prove this is not so", stated one of protest organizers, Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) leader Maia Sandu.

She called on protesters to continue protest actions till final victory.

"If we allow them to steal our votes now, they will steal our votes in autumn and in four years, and in eight years, in 28 years. If we unite, we will not allow them to do this!", the former education minister said.

The Mayor Elect leader of the "Demnitate si Adevar" [DA, "Dignity and Justice"] Party Andrei Nastase, DA Deputy Chairman Alexander Slusari, MP Maria Ciobanu, political scientists Arcadie Barbarosie and Oazu Nantoi, ex-judge Domnica Manole also took the floor at the protest.

At the end of the protest, the demonstrators adopted a resolution, which contains the demand to approve mandate of Chisinau Mayor Elect Andrei Nastase.
