20 july, 2018

Minister of Education, Culture and Research Valentin Crudu reported at a meeting of the parliamentary commission on culture, education, science, youth, sports and media, that the pre-university educational institutions of Moldova lack a little more than 2 thousand teachers.

According to him, this problem will be partially solved after hiring graduates of pedagogical faculties.

"Graduates of pedagogical faculties will cover 31% of vacancies. There is an acute need of teachers of mathematics, physics and chemistry. The Moldovan kindergartens and primary schools are also understaffed", noted Crudu.

He added that schools and kindergartens are being renovated and prepared for the cold season. The hygienic and sanitary requirements meet the required standards, as well as and school buses; moreover, certain conditions are created to facilitate the access for children with special needs.

Crudu stressed that 9.8 million lei will be spent for these purposes. According to the official, 907 secondary schools out of 1,253 are subjected to major repairs, and 845 kindergartens have been renovated thanks to the technical and financial assistance provided by the Government of Romania.
