24 july, 2018

Moldovan President Igor Dodon took part "most willingly" in the 15th Orthodox Festival "Rose and Candle for Stefan cel Mare" held last Sunday in the Molovata Village (Dubasari Raion) upon the blessing of His Highness Vladimir, the Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova.

The head of state wrote in the social networks that the festival was held in the Molovata House of Culture, and the role of Moldova's outstanding medieval King Stefan cel Mare was played by Maestro Nicolae Darie, the Honorable Artist of the Republic of Moldova.

According to the long-standing tradition, the festival program included an exhibition of local popular craftspeople, a concert of local folklore companies, etc.

President Dodon welcomed the holding of such events "aimed at promotion and popularization of the Moldovan people's history". He laid flowers to the monument to Stefan cel Mare erected in that village.

In conformity with a presidential decree, the current year has been declared as The Year of Saint Stefan cel Mare - "for raising the public interest to the history and culture of Moldova, and as a sign of recognition of the tremendous role played by Stefan cel Mare in the history of the Moldovan State".
