EBRD TO HELP CHISINAU RESOLVE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

The Chisinau Primaria will develop a strategic Action Plan "Green City", directed to resolving of environmental problems of the municipality. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will help develop this document.

EBRD Head for Moldova Angela Sax said at the Thursday's press conference that this project is a great initiative.

"One of the plan priorities is the raising of the businesses' interest to participation by means of developing projects on the basis of the public-private partnership, which will make the green city policy more efficient. For the EBRD this is not the first such project in Chisinau. In 2016 we have started the implementation of a complex of actions on raising energy efficiency of public buildings - schools, kindergartens, healthcare institutions, for the implementation of which the bank allocated a credit of 10 million euros", she reminded.

Chisinau Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu said that the development of such a plan will allow implementing an action strategy for raising the building energy efficiency, the lowering of the road load, raising the quality of water supply and sanitation services, electricity saving, waste management.

Besides, the project will also contribute to gradual transition to using of renewable energy sources.
