MOLDOVA HOLDS PITIFUL LEADERSHIP IN FEMALE MORTALITY FROM NONINFECTIOUS DISEASES

Women of Moldova aged 30 to 70 most often die of such noninfectious diseases as cancer, heart diseases, lung diseases and diabetes. This is the conclusion of experts in a report, published in the magazine "The Lancet".

The publication says that Moldovan women have 17% chances to die from these diseases before the age of 70. Ukraine is the second with 16.2%, while the third place is held by Russia - 16.1%. The lowest death rate from these diseases is registered among women of Spain - 6%.

As for men, Moldova is holding the 4th place with 34%. The leadership in this ranking is held by Russia - 37%, then come Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia - approximately 35% each, The lowest rate of mortality from these diseases was registered among men from Iceland - 10%.

Noninfectious diseases such as stroke, heart diseases, diabetes and cancer are reasons for around 70% of deaths.

The scientists set a goal to reduce by one-third the number of deaths from chronic diseases among 30-70-year-old people by 2030 within the framework of sustainable development goals.

The proposed measures include the introduction of restrictions, prohibition of tobacco and alcohol advertising for reducing their consumption, as well as diagnostic and early treatment of chronic diseases.
