20 november, 2018

An action plan on ensuring safety and minimization of risks at using of liquefied petroleum gas in households was presented at the Monday's Government sitting under the presidency of Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers, among the measures, proposed by developers there are: licensing of companies, which have the right to fuel cylinders and selling the LPG for household using; introduction of sanctions for violating the legislation on using and selling gas cylinders for household using; correction of fiscal policy for providing benefits to economic agents for lowering the gas prices; development of the national program on updating prices for gas; development of the national program on renovation of cylinders and compensations of costs to socially vulnerable categories of population, as 90% of the used cylinders are outdated and their life cycle has long expired.

After discussions, the document was proposed to be improved taking into account the expressed comments and additions.

"We should ensure people's safety, while in long-term perspective, we should create a legislative basis which will allow using only those gas cylinders, which underwent technical examination. On the other hand, we should make sure that the released gas is designed for households, but not for fuelling vehicles.

He proposed that the activity on supplying and installing gas cylinders to be shouldered exclusively on special companies.

"Our final goal is to provide to citizens the possibility to address to the company, whose representatives will come home, will install the cylinder and will be responsible for its technical condition. Or they will decline installing if not all the norms are observed", the premier said.

As Infotag has already reported, four people died in explosion of a gas cylinder in a multistory building in Chisinau and 20 more people got serious traumas. In total, 10 apartments suffered, four of which were destroyed completely.

As of today, the repairing and rehabilitation works are being conducted in the affected building. Soon, the heating supply will also be resumed in order that residents to be able to return to their apartments by the end of the year.
