23 november, 2018

Moldova will be participating in the implementation of a joint program in the field of environment and climate change. This topic was discussed at the joint sitting of Moldovan and Romanian Governments in Bucharest on Thursday.

President of Romania Klaus Iohannis promulgated the Agreement between the Romanian and the Moldovan Governments on implementing a program of technical and financial assistance on the basis of the grant worth 100 million euros. The project is aimed at creating legal framework for establishing national coordination bodies in the field of environment protection, water resources and forests in Romania.

“A sum of 12,650 thousand euros was allocated for projects in the field of environment protection and climate change, designed for adaptation to the consequences of the climate change in the field of water and forest pollution, while for other projects, directed to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions and/or adaptation to climate change from the point of view of atmosphere pollution, this sum is of 2,350 thousand euros”, the Agreement says.

Besides, the document says about joint actions of the two countries, but it does not specify which share of the grant will be used for environment projects in the territory of Moldova.
