MOA COMMISSIONED 216 SOCIAL HOUSING IN 2018

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment commissioned 216 social housing in 2018, and started construction of another 233 apartments.

According to the Ministry, 93 apartments were transferred to low-income families in the Nisporeni raion, 92 - in Leova and 31 - in Ialoveni. Another 72 apartments are still being constructed in the Rezina raion, 49 in Cimislia, 40 in Falesti, 32 in Cahul, 30 in Glodeni and 10 in Cantemir. The beneficiaries of social housing include people with disabilities, orphans, and large families.

The apartments have been built as part of the second stage of the housing construction project for socially vulnerable segments of the Moldovan population, financed by a loan provided by the Development Bank of the Council of Europe: 20.4 million euros for a period of 20 years.

The projects provides for the construction of apartments on the basis of unfinished residential blocks, as well as the financial participation of local authorities, who transfer the unfinished housing, land and project documentation. If the estimated price of the non-financial share of local authorities does not reach 35% of the project completion cost, they must finance the difference.

It is planned to construct 700 apartments in eight raions for 2.5 thousand low-income families, within the second stage of the project.

During the first stage of this project, two such social housings were build in Chisinau, one in Glodeni and one in Criuleni with a total number of 249 apartments, where 581 people live.
