INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS FROM CIS IPA READY TO MONITOR ELECTIONS IN MOLDOVA

A group of international observers from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly stated about the readiness to conduct monitoring of parliamentary elections in Moldova.

According to the IPA, the observer group will be coordinated by Deputy Chairman of the Kazakhstan Parliament Senate Bektas Beknazarov. The group is made of 35 international experts, which represent Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

On the Election Day on February 24, international observers from the CIS IPA will be monitoring at polling stations in Chisinau, a number of country raions and at foreign polling stations in Baku, Minsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg in accordance with individual routes.

Observers already had the possibility to assess the preparedness for parliamentary elections, when they visited Moldova on January 30-February 1. According to the results of this visit, an expert report was prepared.

"During the visit, the observers met with CEC representatives, got acquainted with the work of district election councils, visited election headquarters of political parties and independent candidates, who participate in elections in Chisinau and raions of the republic", said the CIS IPA.

During the time left until the voting day, observers intend to meet with Moldovan leadership, representatives of political parties and election blocs, who participate in elections, as well as members of observer missions of other international organizations.
