04 april, 2019

The project "Development of Civil Society at the Local Level" started in Moldova on Wednesday. It is financed by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Representative of the EU Delegation to Moldova Eduard Pesendorfer said at the launching ceremony that one of the project's main goals is to develop the civil society and expand the human capital in Moldova.

"For the EU it is very important to provide support to Moldovan citizens and we hope that the implementation of this project will help us in this. We want to see new ideas, which will bring new possibilities in developing civil society in the republic", the diplomat said.

According to Project Manager Mircea Esanu, the project implies the implementation of around 150 projects, which will be financed through a grant program.

"Civil society organizations, which have project proposals on raising local authorities' efficiency, extending the citizens' participation in decision making, promotion of law-governed state principles and human rights are invited to apply for participation", the expert said.

According to him, the volume of grants varies 1 thousand to 60 thousand euros depending on the projects' scale and time frames.
