ILAN SHOR CASE HEARING ADJOURNED ONCE AGAIN

The court session on the case of Orhei Mayor Ilan Shor once again failed to take place on Wednesday and was put off until May 20. This time, the reason for the new postponement was the absence of the [second-instance] Cahul Appeals Court Judge, who just did not show up. On June 27, 2017 the first-instance Sectorul Buiucani Court of Chisinau sentenced Shor to 7 and a half years in jail on charges of a major embezzlement from 3 Moldovan banks. He was accused also of a major money laundering. His lawyers challenged that verdict with a higher judicial instance – the Appeals Court, which set Shor free but under a judicial review. Last February 24, Ilan Shor was elected deputy of the Moldovan Parliament.
