ONLY THREE MOLDOVAN AIR COMPANIES WILL NOW BE FLYING TO EU AREA

19 april, 2019

The European Commission has closed the EU air space to 120 civil aviation companies, including to 9 from Moldova, as per the new updated EU Air Safety List, which indicates the air companies that fail to meet international flying security standards. As a result, their flights to European Union member countries have been prohibited or restricted.

The Air Safety List includes the Moldovan companies of Tandem Aero, Valan ICC, AIM AIR, Oscar JET, Air Stork, Megaviation, Pecotox-Air, Terra Avia and Fly Pro, who have received European claims for lack of control over flight security from behalf of the National Civil Aviation Organ of Moldova”.

So, flights to EU member countries are now permitted only to three Moldovan air companies – Air Moldova, Fly One and AeroTransCargo.

EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc said: “Maintaining the highest level of safety in European skies is our priority. The EU's Air Safety List remains one of our most effective tools to achieve this. The EU Air Safety List not only helps to maintain high levels of safety in the EU, but it also helps affected airlines and countries to improve their levels of safety, in order for them to eventually be taken off the list. In addition, the EU Air Safety List has become a major preventive tool, as it motivates countries with safety problems to act upon them before a ban under the EU Air Safety List would become necessary”.

From their part, the Moldovan authorities maintain that the European Commission’s measures will not affect the transportation of passengers to/from Moldova, and will only ensure a higher level of flight safety.
