​ONLINE TRAFFIC LIGHTS CONTROL SYSTEM TO APPEAR IN CHISINAU SOON

An automated system of online control and management of traffic lights at 21 city intersections will appear in Chisinau before the end of the year, said Chief Engineer of the municipal enterprise Lumteh Anatol Apparatu.

He said that testing of the system will start already next week.

“Operator of the surveillance system will have the possibility to promptly administrate transport flows, especially in peak hours, at entrance in the city, as well as in case of serious road accidents. The surveillance is conducted on latest-generation monitors. 182 video cameras are installed on traffic interchanges in the city. The operator will also be able to report to specialized services about emergency situations”, the specialist said.

According to Acting Mayor Ruslan Codreanu, 2 million lei were allocated from the city budget for this purpose.

“This important technical solution will be beneficial both for Chisinau and city guests, and for motorists. Also, a number of worn-out traffic lights will be replaced with new ones. 44 traffic lights with timers and creeping line underwent technical inspection. The implementation of such intellectual systems will be useful in directing the movement of official corteges. Often, it is very important to extend green light for them for example to 3 min from 30 sec”, the city governor said.
