ACUM MPs REQUEST INFORMATION ABOUT EXPELLING OF TURKISH TEACHERS FROM MOLDOVA

19 april, 2019

MPs of the ACUM election bloc called on the Information and Security Service (ISS) and the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) to provide information about the reasons and circumstances of expelling seven Turkish citizens, who were teaching in Orizont lyceums, from Moldova.

MP Dumitru Alaiba wrote in social networks that this is a shame for the entire Moldovan society.

“Our country illegally expelled a group of people, giving them in hands of an authoritarian regime. The only way to wash away this shame is to clarify the situation, to recognize the violation and demand punishment for those guilty”, he maintains.

According to the request to ISS and MoI he published in internet, MPs demanded in particular to disclose the information about the institution, which directly was executing the decision on teachers expelling; employees of which institution were accompanying the teachers; which documents were presented by the deported at the border and how they passed through the customs; who covered the transport costs; on which basis the deported teachers were staying in Moldova and if they demanded asylum; when it was decided to declare them as personas non grata and expel from Moldova and when they were informed about this.

As Infotag has already reported, employees of the ISS detained seven teachers from the Orizont network of lyceums on September 6, 2018 on suspicion of their connection with an Islamist group. Under the pretext of their danger for the national security, the detainees were expelled from Moldova. All of them are currently held in Turkish prisons; two of them were already convicted to 6 and 9 years.
