PREMIER SANDU AWARDS OTACI TECHNICAL INSPECTOR FOR PROMPT RESPONSE TO EMERGENCY SITUATION

Inspector of the Technical Supervision Agency Igor Bordian was awarded on Friday with a Governmental Certificate of Honor. He was the one who identified the critical defect of the apartment building in Otaci, a part of which collapsed on June 19.

Sandu wrote on her Facebook page that due to inspector's timely intervention the evacuation was started promptly and lives of 46 people were saved.

"We discussed the difficulties he is facing in his post, as well what can be done in order that people to feel safe in our country. We will take his opinion into account, including the necessary changes to the legislation to prevent recurrence of such cases in future", she wrote.

On Wednesday, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the alocation of 2.5 million lei (US$140 thousand) from governmental reserve to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations for compensating the expenditures on paying the services on demolition, digging works, as well as the expertise of the damaged residential buildings.

Before, all the residents of the collapsed house received compensations from the state on buying new housing.
