08 octomber, 2019

President Igor Dodon met on Tuesday with the Head of the Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (RosSotrudnichestvo) Eleonora Mitrofanova, who is visiting Moldova on the occasion on 10th anniversary of the agency’s office in Chisinau.

The president wrote on his Facebook page that he proposed to open a branch of one of leading Russian universities in Chisinau.

“This may allow country’s young people, first of all those Russian-speaking, not to be forced to leave Moldova to study in other countries. At the same time, I proposed an initiative on implementing a massive program of all-sided support to all Russian-language kindergartens and secondary education institutions in Moldova. I regard as necessary to provide financial, technical, didactic and other types of assistance to young Russia-speaking citizens of Moldova in cooperation with the Russian leadership”, Dodon wrote.

He expressed gratitude to Russia for implementing a number of cultural, humanitarian and educational projects in Moldova, stressed the importance of deepening cooperation, pointing that Russia is Moldova’s strategic partner.

Eleonora Mitrofanova welcomed the activation of cooperation with Moldova under the RosSotrudnichestvo.

“We highly appreciate your understanding of the situation, the attempts to build equal relations with the EU and Russia. We know that the TEFI-Commonwealth TV Award Festival was recently held in Chisinau, as well as an economic forum with participation of guests from Russia. This is encouraging. Many were pained about the fact that Moldova is going somewhere beyond the horizon, though it is necessary to be friends with everyone”, Mitrofanova said.
