VLAD PLAHOTNIUC MAY BE HIDING UNDER THE NAME OF VICTOR NOVAK – JURNAL TV

26 november, 2019

The ex-Chairman of the formerly ruling Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc, may be hiding under the name of Victor Novak, maintains Jurnal TV channel of Chisinau.

This information was made public on Monday evening in the course of a program called Secretele Puterei [Secrets of Power] cast in the presence of an invited guest – incumbent Democratic Party Chairman, ex-Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who stated he had no idea about how authentic that information could be.

Filip said that he had discussed that question with Director of the Registru state information resources center Sergiu Railean, who stated that he had no idea, either, about the second passport allegedly issued to Vlad Plahotniuc under the name of Victor Novak in December 2018.

According to Jurnal TV and to the information presented earlier by MP Chiril Motpan, Chairman of the parliamentary Standing Committee for National Security, Defense and Public Order, a second passport is possessed also by Plahotniuc’s closest confidant Sergey Yaralov.

“I did not know what they needed the second passports for, and I had no idea about the existence of such documents. If all this is true, an investigation must be started and brought to a logical end [the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Service aka "Anticoruptie" has already initiated a criminal litigation]. But I have absolutely no idea about this”, stated Pavel Filip, a former DP Deputy Chairman.

He remarked however that over the past 5 months [of the PSRM-ACUM coalition existence] the Democratic Party had no relation to state power or power levers, “but I guess that such period of time was quite sufficient for profiled state institutions, such as the Information and Security Service, the Prosecutor General's Office, the National Anti-Corruption Center, to start such investigation and to accomplish it”.
