PREMIER PROPOSES TO SIMPLIFY MECHANISM OF GETTING NEW DRIVING LICENSES

The improvement of the process of receiving new driving licenses and the eradication of corruption in this field was the main topic of discussion at the Friday's meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

According to the Government, Director of the National Agency for Public Services (NAPS) Tatiana Cunetchi reported about the adopted measures on eliminating the corruption component in the process of studying and examination, especially in the practical part.

According to her, the adopted measures allowed to reduce the time of waiting for the practical exam to 45 days from 2.5 months. The number of examiners and cars was increased. The NAPS is actively cooperating with the National Anti-Corruption Center (NACC) to prevent corruption at exams.

The premier noted certain positive results, yet calling to raise the quality of candidates' training in driving schools to prevent untrained drivers from acceptance to exams.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Iulian Postica presented a concept on raising the quality of training process in driving schools, which is proposed to be graded, as well as instructors, in order that candidates to have the possibility of choice according to the objective quality of the proposed services.

At the sitting it was said that the Moldovan legislation does not oblige motorists to update their driving licenses of old type, but these do not meet EU directives, thus their holders sometimes face problems abroad.

The premier urged to revise the legal basis to simplify the process of changing the old documents for new and to keep improving the mechanisms of getting the documents.
