PRESIDENT CHECKS LEVEL OF AIRPORT READINESS FOR COMBATING CORONAVIRUS

The Chisinau airport and the Toma Ciorba Infection Clinic Hospital were inspected by President Igor Dodon for the level of readiness for counteracting the possible dissemination of coronavirus.

He wrote in social networks, that he and Minister of the Interior Pavel Voicu inspected the arrival zone, making sure that the country airport is functioning in normal mode, all employees are working in masks and gloves.

"Special thermal scanners are measuring body temperature, people perceive this procedure with understanding, thanking for responsible approach", said the head of state.

Then, together with representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Dodon visited the infection hospital, saw several wards, prepared for receiving possible coronavirus patients.

He expressed gratitude to the administration and personnel of the medical institution for taking timely prevention measures.

"The Health Ministry took the decision to prepare separate wards in each hospital in case of patient arrival. However, there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Moldova. Worthy of note is the information about speculative raising of prices on some types of medications, protective masks and other important goods. Such actions are unacceptable and those, who decided to make business in such situation, will be severely prosecuted", the president warned.

In his opinion, the coronavirus problem is a national security issues and the Supreme Security Council will be discussing it for studying the circumstances and the measures which have already been adopted and will be adopted for preventing and reducing the risk of virus spreading.

Dodon called on country citizens to keep calm, demanding politicians to refrain from manipulating public opinion.
