MOLDEXPO CENTER TO BE RE-PROFILED INTO CoV PATIENT ACCEPTANCE FACILITY

30 march, 2020

Seven hundred places will be prepared and equipped for patients suspected of having coronavirus infection, Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Chicu announced to the press on Sunday night following a sitting of the governmental “Crisis Unit” founded specially for combating COVID-19.

“This will be in fact a hospital to be created in MoldExpo Center pavilions on an area of 5 thousand square meters. It will be like a field hospital, but only with all stationary conditions necessary for treatment and with its own efficient ventilation system”, said Ion Chicu.

“Such decision was taken because the pandemic incidence keeps growing. We have 6 hospitals in Chisinau and 3 regional hospitals. But thus may be insufficient if the disease persists. So, we are preparing new facilities”, said the Premier.

In his words, last 24 hours brought 32 new instances of CoV infection, including 7 among Transnistrian region residents. The day before, on Saturday, there were also 32 cases registered. So, the total number of infected Moldova citizens has reached 263 since March 7, including over 50 medical workers. Of that total number, 13 people have fully recovered and were discharged from hospitals. And 2 persons died.
