CHISINAU PRIMARIA FINANCES DAILY TRANSPORTATION OF DOCTORS TO WORK

Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban reported that 600 medical workers are daily transported to work and back home by 30 minibuses, rented at the expense of Chisinau municipal budget.

During the Thursday’s online press conference, he explained that not only those who live in Chisinau benefit from free transportation, but also those who live up to 50 km outside the city.

Ceban reminded that for almost two weeks already the municipal public transport is providing its services to passengers for free.

“Up to 321 trolleybuses and 104-110 buses are daily coming in the city streets. In weekend, their number falls to 80 vehicles. According to the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, conductors were sent on paid leave to avoid coronavirus. The daily budget losses on transport are estimated at 1.7 – 2 million lei. The regime of free transportation will last for uncertain time”, he said, calling on citizens not to go out unless it is critical.

Ceban reminded that it is allowed only in three cases to come out from house: to work, to pharmacy or hospital and to shop for products.

“Around 35 thousand residents in Chisinau we are classifying into various group of risk. These are large families, the disabled, alone elderly people. They benefit from help provided by up to 5 thousand social workers, as well as 4 thousand volunteers. It is about buying of food, delivering of medications to doors of apartments and houses they live”, he explained.
