PREMIER CHICU SPEAKS OF POSSIBLE NEW RESTRICTIONS TO PREVENT COVID-19

13 july, 2020

Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Chicu is not ruling out completely that the Government may introduce new restrictions to prevent coronavirus spread.

He stated to journalists following his traditional Monday’s consultative meeting with President Igor Dodon and Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii: “The epidemiological situation is remaining alarming in the world, in Europe and in this region, and Moldova is not an exception. All the recent days were brining ‘anti-records’ by the number of revealed infection cases. Many countries are again introducing restrictions, including for the HoReCa sphere. It well may be that we will also have to return to prohibitions”.

Premier Chicu expressed regret that Italy and Hungary have attributed Moldova to the so-called “red zone” – countries with a high level of COVID-19 spread. As a result, these two countries have introduced a ban on the entry and transit for Moldova citizens.

The Prime Minister urged citizens to strictly observe prescribed measures to prevent COVID-19 spread.
