PM ION CHICU DOES NOT EXCLUDE STRENGTHENING RESTRICTIVE MEASURES TO COMBAT PANDEMIC

03 august, 2020

Prime Minister Ion Chicu does not rule out tightening restrictive measures to combat the pandemic. He said this on Monday after the traditional meeting with the President and the Speaker of the Parliament.

“We see the number of cases of the virus growing for the second week in a row. Therefore, the National Commission on Public Health Emergencies decided to extend the restrictions until August 31st. If necessary, additional restrictions can be introduced,” Chicu said.

He recalled that on July 31, a decision to close the swimming pools was made.

“Unfortunately, over the past two weeks after the opening of the pools, we saw that the sanitary and epidemiological norms were not observed there,” the prime minister said.

He called for strict adherence to restrictions to protect the health of citizens.

“Apart from health risks, there are also budgetary expenses. We have allocated another 10 million lei to pay compensation to doctors who have contracted the virus. Huge amounts of money are spent on other protective measures. This money could not have been spent if citizens had more responsibility,” Chicu stressed.
