07 september, 2020

The Parliament of Moldova will resume its plenary activities this week, Prime Minister Ion Chicu announced to the press following the Monday’s weekly meeting of the country leadership.

“The Parliament Speaker informed us that the forum’s first plenary meeting will be convoked later this week. This is going to be a very important sitting that will discuss the bills approved by the Government last week namely the package of draft laws related to the new program of Moldova’s cooperation with the International Monetary Fund”, said Ion Chicu.

The Premier said that the Parliament will consider also amendments to the Law on the 2020 State Budget, re-distribution of financial means, and the lump-sum repayment of extra 900 lei to pensioners, whose monthly pensions are below 3,000 lei.

“The package includes also some amendments to the Criminal Code pertaining to toughening of punishments for corruption actions. The Parliament is to consider amendments to the legislation aimed at supporting agricultural producers who have suffered from the drought. We hope for the responsibility of the political forces represented in the legislative forum. I hope they will demonstrate more responsibility and less populism”, said Ion Chicu.
